RENTING GOT YOU IN A TEMPORARY MINDSET?

For those in the rental housing market, the sense of permanence can feel transient and, at times, almost imperceivable. One can argue there is little zest to invest hard-earned dollars into rental home improvements or interior design to make the experience more your own.

Then again, there is something to be said about showing up to the present moment and taking charge of the situation we may find ourselves in. If we resist the urge to change up the decor, freshen up with a new colour of paint, or perhaps buy that lush velvet couch to complete the holistic apartment design, it suggests that we don't prioritise making the best out of what we have. Sometimes, we lose sight of the value in making our house into a home.

Maybe you avoid hanging artwork on the walls, or you leave covers draped over the sofa. It’s safe to say you’re not alone by saving your never-ending ‘fix-it list’ for that mysterious rainy day keeping you inside.

We sure know how to find excuses.

Someday, I'll grow a green thumb and learn to maintain indoor plants.

Someday, I'll dust off that print and get it framed.

Someday, I'll toss my decade-old bedding and invest in a cosy new set.

Whatever the case, know that 'This Is It'. Here is your friendly reminder that even when life feels rather temporary, it's the little moments in your home that matter most.

It’s design therapy; the extra sparkle in your bathroom mirror in the mornings, the fresh sunflowers on your dining table, the quirky wall collage of inspirational polaroids, the freshly weeded garden, the brand-new soft towels, and the earthy crockery set from your local artisan. These are what make your temporary rental house feel like home no matter where you end up.
